The date when all the Christmas lights will be switched on in Liverpool has been revealed.

As Christmas approaches, it's time to look forward to seeing Liverpool lit up with sparkling Christmas lights as we get into the spirit of the season. A spokesperson for Liverpool BID confirmed to the ECHO all lights will be switched on this Friday, November 17.

This includes on the Albert Dock, Liverpool ONE and the city centre. Liverpool ONE will be launching it's Christmas Live this Friday and will kick off the city's festive season with the neon Christmas tree returning to Chavasse Park, streets lit up with stunning decorations, and a massive showcase of activities and performances to ring in the holidays.

The shopping complex will host hundreds of kids in a singing and dancing festive extravaganza from 4pm to 8pm. Visitors can also expect to see the return of the Christmas reindeer light installations throughout various locations, neon trees on Paradise Street, festive angel wings and plenty of twinkling Christmas lights and decorations across Liverpool ONE.

Food and drink venue Bar Hütte will also set up in Chavasse Park for the launch underneath the giant Christmas tree. The team will be hosting wreath-making sessions, movie Sundays, a festive after-school club, and sensory classes for the very first time this year.

There is no longer an official "switch on" event. Instead, the lights will be simply turned on without a countdown and this will be on Friday, November 17.
